What’s your “Enough” number?

Money, money, money! Are you dreaming of a life where you don't have to worry about the green stuff? Where you can make a career change, take a break, or even move to a new location? Well, you're in luck because I'm about to spill the beans on how to make that a reality.

It all starts with figuring out your "enough" number. No, I'm not talking about the number of donuts you can eat in one sitting (although that is important too). I'm talking about the amount of money you need to live the life you want, without stressing about the cash flow.

But hold on a minute, before you start daydreaming, let me tell you something. A lot of people get it wrong when it comes to "enough." They think it's some unattainable number that's going to keep them running on a hamster wheel. But the truth is, once you define your desired lifestyle first, you'll be surprised at how easy it is to find your "enough."

Get comfortable with the fact that "enough" isn't the same for everyone. Your parents, your best friend, and even your neighbor's cat might have different "enough" numbers. So, it's important to figure out what's important to YOU. And if you're partnered up, make sure to get your partner's input too. It's always good to have a second opinion, even if it's just to confirm that your taste in home decor is on point.

So how do you determine your desired lifestyle?  Begin by asking yourself these questions…

  • What are your core values?

  • What do you enjoy most about your current lifestyle?

  • Where do you want to make changes in your current lifestyle?

  • Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, or even 20 years?

  • What daily activities bring you the most joy? The most peace?

  • What activities cause you to lose track of time doing?

  • Which people do you want to surround yourself with?

Now, before you start counting your chickens before they hatch, remember that more isn't always better. Sure, it might be tempting to buy that vacation home or splurge on a yacht, but do you really need it? Think about the added complexity, maintenance, and potential to limit your wanderlust spirit. Keep it simple and intentional, and you'll be much happier in the long run.

And last but not least, don't let financial literature tell you what to do with your hard-earned dough. Instead of focusing on the "have to dos," turn them into "want to dos." Make sure your money is aligned with your values and goals, and you'll be on the fast track to living your best life.

So go ahead, find your "enough" number, and start living the life you deserve. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be the one giving financial advice (but hopefully be funnier than this!). AND, if you’d like help coming up with your “enough” number, I’m here to help! www.clearspringswealth.com
